My dad brought me a CB home from work and I want to mount it in my car. Where should it go? This is what it looks like on a Saab 9-5, this isn't mine though (I have a 5 speed and a grey interior).

In front of the shifter in that little space. Unless it interferes with the manual shifter.

I've always wanted one on my car, but I don't think they're a thing in Brazil...

The CB in my car is mounted up against the center tunnel facing upwards, in other-words the controls face direct up at you and the back sits close to the floor board. If its too tight on the drivers side you could mount it on the passengers side.

Let us see how well Kinja does targeting this. Just on the edge of the center console/dash area. On the passenger side.
I've seen them mounted there before on Saabs

You can get longer mike/cords. Mount it where it won't show if you take it out.

We used to just slide them under the seat after we turned them on.

That's how I had mine. Pointing straight up next to the center console, passenger side.

Is there enough room in the armrest compartment?

How big is the unit? I ask because the one that's normally in my truck would normally be found in a semi-truck. Thing's massive. If you have a smaller one it makes it easier to find a good mounting place. Remember, once it's set up, to tune your antenna. This allows you to get the best reception and output.

It does. And my ashtray/ coin drawer is there. And this radio is huge, my dad used it in his rig when he used to drive an 18 wheeler.

This might be the best, but I usually have short people in the passenger seat and they like putting the seat all the way up.
It's a silly problem, but angry short people aren't that fun to deal with.

It's a massive Cobra 29 LTD classic. My dad used to drive 18 wheelers (he does dispatch and logistics now) and he used this one. He installed an echo box and everything.

In my Jeep I have it over head. Lots of people put them by their right knee, or if it is too tight on the passenger side. Out of sight is an option but makes it harder to change stations and you would def need an external speaker and new mic cord setup. Somewhere integrated into the center console would be best. Room inside the armrest area perhaps? Or above the left knee tucked under the dash?

The Kinja aim is way off.
Nearly as bad as your aim in GTA5. haha

There are switches on the top for the echo box so I have to mount it on it's bottom. I think i'm just going to Velcro it on the middle of my dashboard and remove it if it's too large of a blind spot.

Smae model I have
It's huge. When it's in my truck, it just sits on the tranny tunnel in front of my middle seat. In your case, I'd suggest finding a spot that can be undone without much hassle. I say this because if you use it for a bit and decide you like having it, you could always buy a smaller unit for the same job. I know I was looking at a radio shack model that was less than half the size of the LTD. On the flip side, if you decide you don't like the radio (which is blasphemous) you can remove it no harm no foul. The 29 is a fantastic radio. I love mine.

I'm thinking I could use Velcro to try different areas and see which works best. Then buy a more permanent bracket once I find a spot. I kinda need it. I occasionally work for my dad's company doing warehouse maintenance and sometimes basic truck maintenance. Having a CB on the yard is going to help me to know exactly what is going on. I'm 16 and can't get a CDL so I need to talk to what ever drivers we have in to move trucks for me.

Short people need not adjust seat as their feet are not pushing pedals.
I mounted mine in the jeep, not pointed up, but about 45° and as far forward as possible having the chrome about flush with the middle section of center console. I'll see if I can look for a photo. Also passenger seat can slide forward enough, or hits the cb.

The thing with Jeep interiors is that they have smoothed out right angles and flat surfaces. Then Sweden is like "lets make everything driver oriented and curvy like our women" and now I have a problem mounting things to my dash.

I would see why you'd need it. Hopefully you find a good spot for it.
